“Where Loneliness Goes To Die”

Vickerman Hill in Upstate New York is a vast, underpopulated region that lies somewhere in the melancholy shadows of  ”might have been. It has its own variety of loneliness –”Vickerman Hill Loneliness.”  Vickerman Hill is where loneliness goes to die–the bone-yard of eternity.

Wandering the back roads one discovers little towns in various stages of decay and forgotteness. These communities are populated with people who are unfamiliar with “now” or “someday.”  In these by-passed  places there is only “then” and “once” and “remember when.”

Even in the occasional sunny weather there is no joy or anticipation–only silence and the promise of more silence.
