Another from the Upstate, NY series. A common feature of the Upstate, urban, cultural landscape are little “Mom & Pop” neighborhood stores like this one which was right across the street from our motel.

Another in the Upstate NY series. This is another view of the town of Little Falls. As a child growing up in Central N.Y. in the 50s, I can remember playing outside in the winter and seeing skies like this as night approached.

The Another from the Upstate New York Series. The town of Little Falls (in Herkimer County) has a population of about 5000 and was named for a series of cascades on the nearby Mohawk River which necessitated a portage. The portage site developed into a trading community in the early 1700s but was burned by Indians and Tories during the Revolutionary war. At one time the town had a population of over 13,000.
