The Z-DSC_6683 HDR Main St. Little Falls, NY jpg 450Another from the Upstate New York Series. The town of Little Falls (in Herkimer County) has a population of about 5000 and was named for a series of cascades on the nearby Mohawk River which necessitated a portage. The portage site developed into a trading community in the early 1700s but was burned by Indians and Tories during the Revolutionary war. At one time the town had a population of over 13,000.
